General

Spring starts again! What many kinds of critters emerge then! Butterflies, bumblebees, wasps, ticks, bees, flies, hornets and many more. Unfortunately, some of these critters can cause problems when they sting, bite or sting the dog, cat or horse.

Of course, it is also possible that the insect bite was not noticed at first. In summer, therefore, always check for insect bites or ticks.

Often, the animal will notice excessive salivation or noticeable licking or biting on a particular part of the body. In addition, a sudden limp may be an indication of an insect bite on the leg or leg. Because of the fur, looking for an insect sting may take some time. This is especially true for animals with very long and dense fur.

symptoms

Insect or tick bites can often be recognised by the following symptoms;

  • Excessive salivation
  • Visible thickening of the skin. Sometimes accompanied by redness or irritation.
  • Lots of licking or/and biting of a spot
  • Sudden limp (due to insect bite on leg or leg)

Diagnosis:

We recommend checking your pets regularly for insect bites or ticks, especially in spring and summer.

Because of fur, looking for an insect bite can take some time. This is especially true for animals with very long and dense fur.

Is there a tick bite? Then, firstly, it is very important to remove it properly.

In many cases, there is red, irritated skin after an insect bite or tick removal. In such cases, minimise discomfort and irritation by applying a skin repair cream to the site of the bite or sting or where a tick has just been removed. This will prevent irritation, thickening, a warm feeling and loss of fur.
