Curacao is a beautiful island where every year many tourists come to enjoy the great weather, the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful beaches. Unfortunately, there is also a downside to this beautiful tropical island and that is the enormous animal suffering.
The stray cat problem in Curacao is big, very big! Perhaps it is invisible to many but the suffering is enormous. The overpopulation in residential areas and at resorts causes the spread of diseases, malnourished kittens, cats being hit and killed and kittens being dumped. These are left in boxes or plastic bags to meet their end in a horrible way.
These animals are completely abandoned to their fate, with no chance of survival if help is not provided.
Kitten Rescue Curaçao Foundation provides temporary shelter for motherless kittens, lactating cats and injured animals. The foundation also supports in socialising cats and provides a place for cats with disabilities or who need special attention. Foundation Kitten Rescue Curaçao organises large sterilisation campaigns several times a year for stray cats and cats of owners with small budgets, and supports people with small budgets with the care of their animal with food and, if necessary, a veterinary consultation.
